Nexenta Recognized on CRN’s Virtualization 50 List for Second Consecutive Year
SANTA CLARA, Calif.—April 11, 2016 — Nexenta (@Nexenta), the global leader in Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS), today announced that CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company, has named Nexenta to its 2016 Virtualization 50 list. The annual list recognizes channel friendly companies that provide some of the most innovation virtualization technology available.
Selected by CRN editors, the 2016 Virtualization 50 list recognizes technology vendors that are leading the way in meeting a growing need for state-of-the-art virtualization offerings. These vendors are instrumental in helping solution providers select and deploy the right tools for building virtualized environments—a critical first step in transitioning customers to the cloud. In addition to honoring vendors for outstanding products and services, the list serves as a valuable guide for solution providers looking for best-in-class virtualization technology suppliers.
CRN editors select companies for the Virtualization 50 list on the basis of multiple criteria, including each company's overall impact on the market, its influence on the channel as a whole, and the desirability of the technology and services it makes available to its partners.
Nexenta overcomes the limitations of conventional legacy Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) storage solutions, optimizing enterprise applications and offering support at any scale. By collaborating on joint products and empowering agile and sustainable architectures with companies like VMware, Nexenta progresses innovation in virtualized environments by providing an ideal platform for software-defined storage solutions.
“Virtualization encompasses some of the most powerful tools in the IT industry today, enabling the centralization of resources and remarkable scalability of IT infrastructure,” said Robert Faletra, CEO, The Channel Company. “This thriving segment of the IT market is the driving force behind the rapid, fascinating transformation of the data center, and we are pleased to shine a spotlight on some of the key players in this space.”
“We are thrilled to be honored by CRN with this prestigious award for the second year in a row,” said Tarkan Maner, Chairman & CEO at Nexenta. “CRN fosters growth of the channel through innovative tech solutions and cultivating relationships across the IT industry, and this win is a testament to Nexenta’s ongoing dedication to our customers and partners in the same regard.”
The Virtualization 50 list will be featured in the April 2016 issue of CRN and online at www.CRN.com/virtualization50.

Mark Templeton, Former President and CEO at Citrix—One of the Leading Software and Cloud Technology Visionaries in the World--Joins Nexenta Advisory Board
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – March 15, 2016 – Nexenta (@Nexenta), the global leader in Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS), today announced that Mark Templeton, former President and CEO at Citrix, has joined the Nexenta advisory board.
Templeton brings a wealth of experience in Software-Defined (SD) technologies having been influential as the inventor of Citrix’s SD workplace strategy. Believing that virtualization, mobility management, networking and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions can unite to provide businesses with unparalleled ability to thrive in today’s fast-paced, data-centric world, Templeton will share his insight and advise Nexenta as it continues to lead the OpenSDS market.
Templeton was appointed Citrix President and CEO in 1998 and 2001 respectively. Under his leadership, the technology company transformed from a $15 million organization with one product, one customer segment and one go-to-market strategy, to one of the most globally recognizable brands, including well know solutions CloudStack, XenApp, XenDesktop, and XenServer, with annual revenues exceeding $3 billion. Templeton retired in October 2015, leaving Citrix as the leader in mobile workspace technology.
“At Citrix, our vision was that a Software-defined Workplace was more productive, engaging and resilient,” says Templeton. “Nexenta’s OpenSDS solutions not only provide greater mobility and flexibility in the face of ever-more data demanding deployments, but they are doing so while also driving down critical IT infrastructure costs. For too long businesses have been at the mercy of the legacy storage vendors, Nexenta is giving the power back to the enterprise.”
“Yet again, we are delighted to be strengthening Nexenta Advisory Board with someone of Mark’s stature,” says Tarkan Maner, Chairman and CEO, at Nexenta. “His leadership and vision for Citrix were based on his belief that SD technology will be a vital aspect of tomorrow’s workplace and his expertise and network will be invaluable to us. The future is SD everything (SDx) and with Mark on-board, we’ll continue to be the torch bearer.”

Nexenta to Showcase Growing Portfolio of Disruptive Open Source-Driven Software-Defined Storage Solutions at WHD.global 2016
Santa Clara, Calif. – March 14, 2016 - Nexenta (@Nexenta), the global leader in Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS), today announced that it will be showcasing its award winning software-defined storage (SDS) portfolio at WHD.global, March 15-17 2016, at the Europa-Park in Rust.
Participating alongside partner SanDisk’s booth, Nexenta will showcase its growing range of disruptive OpenSDS solutions, demonstrating how they are empowering the world’s largest enterprises to manage increasingly data-heavy workloads, both in and out of the cloud, with complete freedom over deployment set-ups. Visitors will be able to discover more about Nexenta’s flagship scale-up unified and block storage solution, NexentaStor, scale-out object and block storage solution, NexentaEdge, and the NexentaConnect software suite.
The new software-defined all flash solution, combining NexentStor and the IF100 InfiniFlash from SanDisk, will also be showcased. The pre-configured solution couples Nexenta’s NexentaStor with SanDisk’s IF100 hardware, together achieving more than one million (1M) raw input/output operations per second (IOPS), with sequential throughput of around seven GBps. In the face of ever-more demanding data deployments, the integrated solution empowers businesses with agile and scalable architecture that can manage the data deluge with industry leading TCO. For more information about the exclusive promotion with this solution, please email allflash@nexenta.com.
In addition to discussing the solutions with Nexenta and SanDisk executives, attendees can gain a deeper understanding around the strengths of differing storage types during SanDisk’s speaking session.
Session: Without Compromise: Software-Defined Storage on the InfiniFlash IF100 All-Flash System from SanDisk
Speaker: Axel Rosenberg, Senior Manager Systems Field Engineering, SanDisk
When: Wednesday, March 16, 17:20 CET

WHD.global has also organised numerous social and hospitality events following each day of the conference to allow attendees to network away from the exhibition floor. This year’s planned occasions include the Symantec BierFest and the OnApp ConneXion Party, which conclude the second and third days respectively.
Furthermore, on arrival, attendees will be given a ‘game card’ with the aim to collect stamps from specific booths. Not only will this allow guests to discuss the latest innovation with leading vendors, but they will also have a chance of winning a grand prize. For more details, please visit the SanDisk booth.
