SANTA CLARA, Calif.—November 1, 2016 — Nexenta (@Nexenta), the global leader in Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS) and Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU), today announced their November 17th webinar which will highlight the general availability of its joint multi-service all-flash array (AFA) storage solution, based on the M510DC SSDs from Micron. The Micron Accelerated NexentaEdge Solution has been engineered to deliver an innovative solution for next-generation all-flash data centers.
To accelerate enterprises’ continued adoption of all-flash in the data center, Storage Switzerland, Nexenta, Micron and Supermicro are hosting a joint webinar to discuss how organizations are modernizing their data centers by implementing storage infrastructure that deliver all-flash performance with modern flexibility and scale. Full details below:
Title: Modern Storage Infrastructures for Modernized Data Centers
Speakers: George Crump, President and Founder at Storage Switzerland, Oscar Wahlberg, Director of Product
Management at Nexenta, Andy Fisher, Senior Product Line Manager at Micron, Eric Sindelar, General
Manager at Supermicro

The Micron Accelerated NexentaEdge Solution is the first all-flash solution optimized to cost-effectively provide high performance block, Swift and S3 object services to OpenStack, VMware and Container-based infrastructures. Built on Micron flash and memory, this all-flash solution delivers up to 75,000 random 8KB IOPS (input/output operations per second) per node, with a typical five node cluster delivering up to 375,000 IOPS providing simple scaling of performance and capacity in predictable increments.
With 33 patents, and industry leading TCO, NexentaEdge provides patented Cloud Copy on Write design delivering guaranteed enterprise-grade data integrity, high performance distributed caching, unlimited instant snapshots and clones, as well as automatic self-healing, active self-balancing, and ultra-scalable cluster-wide inline deduplication and compression that can lower the effective cost of storage for virtual machines (VMs) by a factor of 5:1 or more, as well as offset cost of all-flash solutions. Furthermore, the real-time self-balancing continuously distributes loads across all devices in the cluster to maximize flash endurance, and simple management through CLI, REST API and an intuitive graphical user-interface.
The Micron Accelerated NexentaEdge Solution delivers the simplicity of a fully preconfigured appliance with the flexibility of scale-out Software-Defined Storage (SDS), including use cases in the following markets:
- OpenStack Clouds
- VMware Clouds
- Object based Active Archives
- Container infrastructure
- Big Data infrastructure
Data centers traditionally based on proprietary frame-based array hardware are transitioning to digital and cloud infrastructures offering high levels of agility and performance. All-flash array (AFA) storage solutions, considered integral to digital and cloud infrastructures, are still one of the highest growth sub-segments of the enterprise storage market. According to IDC, worldwide sales of AFAs were $2.9B in 2015, and the market is expected to grow at a 21.4 percent CAGR through 2020 to reach $7.7B in revenue*.
“Revenue growth in the AFA space has continued to outperform expectations as customers are rapidly transitioning from legacy to flash-optimized storage architectures,” said Eric Burgener, research director for Storage. “Currently, 38% of organizations are already testing or using AFAs, with another 26% evaluating them. 50% of organizations let flash deployment be driven on a case-by-case basis, but an additional 27% are already committed to an “all flash for primary storage” strategy. IDC expects that by 2020, AFAs will drive more than 70% of all primary storage spend.”
“Micron flash storage is transforming how data is accessed, stored and managed – and, in the process, is solving some of the world’s most vexing compute challenges,” said Darren Thomas, VP and GM Storage Business Unit at Micron. “From virtualized computing to cloud-based storage environments, Micron Accelerated Solutions transform today’s data centers and Nexenta and Supermicro are important partners that unlock new value for our customers.”
“We are excited about our strategic relationship with Micron and Supermicro, enabling us to deliver today, our all-flash SDS high performance scale-out solution,” said Tarkan Maner, CEO and Chairman at Nexenta. “With the fast growth in Big Data and software-defined cloud deployments, we believe this innovative collaboration will take the enterprise storage market by storm for any app, via any stack, and on any infrastructure.”
