Jason Hoffman to Deliver Keynote Address on the Future of Cloud Infrastructure
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Oct 24, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Joyent, a global cloud computing software and service provider that offers an integrated technology suite designed for service providers, enterprises, and developers, will be presenting keynote speaker Jason Hoffman at this year's OpenStorage Summit in San Jose on October 26-27. The company will also demonstrate its SmartOS and SmartDataCenter software products in real time at the event.
Joyent has experienced dramatic growth as a global cloud software and service provider, due in part to the emergence of open standards as the ideal solution for cloud deployments. As a Nexenta Partner and member of the Illumos Foundation, Joyent offers service providers an end-to-end cloud services and storage solution that is simply unattainable by Amazon and other legacy cloud providers.
"We are committed to the success of Illumos, and have created our own operating system, SmartOS, based upon it," said Jason Hoffman, Founder and CTO of Joyent. "We built SmartOS, the most modern operating system available, using Illumos because we wanted cloud providers and systems companies to benefit from the operating system-level virtualization that eliminates inefficiencies and improves performance. Together with Nexenta, we are providing the best combination of compute and storage for profitable cloud services."
Because Joyent's approach to cloud software and services is completely different from that of all other major cloud vendors, the company is able to deliver unprecedented economies of scale and competitive advantages to service providers, enterprises, and developers in the form of higher hardware utilization and margins, and in compute performance and scalability.
"The increased implementations of OpenStorage standards define a clear departure from the monolithic legacy storage of the past," said Evan Powell, CEO of Nexenta Systems. The OpenStorage Summit is a chance for IT professionals of all levels, including System Administrators, IT architects, and CIOs, to be a part of the discussion, to learn, and to influence the future of data storage.
Featured speakers represent the best minds of the OpenStorage industry. Their sessions will highlight the storage technologies that are accelerating innovation and are poised to replace costly legacy storage technologies. The OpenStorage summit will have several tracks covering Cloud, High Availability ZFS, Virtualization (including VDI), performance tuning, and data backup. There will be a wealth of knowledge to be gleaned in just a few days. "These events are the best places to speak one-on-one with the experts and get those nuggets of information you won't find elsewhere," said Jonathan Halstuch, COO of RackTop Systems. "Attending the OpenStorage Summit is time well spent and an opportunity that shouldn't be missed for anyone involved with storage or desktop virtualization."
NexentaStor supports hybrid storage pools natively, which have enabled BrickStor to be a leading solution provider for VDI implementations, as well as high performance applications requiring an extreme number of random IOPS. OpenStorage and Nexenta in particular, have shown the ability to outperform legacy storage solutions. The OpenStorage Summit is the perfect event to learn how and where to leverage OpenStorage for customers that aren't already taking advantage of Nexenta. For those who are users of NexentaStor or BrickStor, the Summit is the right place to learn about the newest features and best practices.
"RackTop Systems is a true partner in the OpenStorage movement," said Evan Powell, CEO of Nexenta Systems. "Solutions like BrickStor powered by NexentaStor address current end user storage requirements around Virtualization and VDI."
