SANTA CLARA, Calif.—March 9, 2016— Nexenta (@Nexenta), the global leader in Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS), today announced that Sheng Liang, co-founder and chief executive officer (CEO) of Rancher Labs, has joined the Nexenta advisory board.
Liang brings more than 15 years of experience building innovative cloud and container technologies. His knowledge of evolving software solutions used by some of the largest and most successful cloud services in the market will contribute to Nexenta’s continued leadership in the OpenSDS market.
Prior to founding Rancher in 2014, Liang was chief technology officer (CTO) of the Cloud platforms group at Citrix Systems after their acquisition of Cloud.com (the company that built CloudStack), where he was co-founder and CEO. Liang was previously a co-founder at Teros, which was acquired by Citrix in 2005, and led large engineering teams at SEVEN Networks, Openwave Systems and Sun Microsystems.
In the last year and a half as Ranchers’ CEO, Liang has helped transform the company into a global leader in the container management software market, providing the most powerful platform for running Docker containers in the enterprise today.
“By delivering the benefits of software-defined storage to containerized environments, Nexenta is bringing great value to enterprises deploying containers,” said Liang. “Nexenta is truly leading the way in building SDS solutions on the container ecosystem, enabling the mobility of application microservices with persistent storage. I am honored Tarkan and the company have invited me to advise toward their future success.”
“We are thrilled to have Sheng Liang join the Nexenta Advisory Board as a proven expert in bridging container and cloud software technologies,” said Tarkan Maner, Chairman and CEO at Nexenta. “His unparalleled experience in these key areas will be an invaluable asset in driving our vision for the company and strengthening the collective knowledge of the advisory board, enabling Nexenta to accelerate innovation and deliver superior solutions to our customers and partners.”
