PARIS, France & SANTA CLARA, Calif. – 20, May 2015 - Nexenta (@Nexenta), the global leader in Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS), today announced its participation at the second OpenZFS European User Conference on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Ecole 42 in Paris. With a growing ZFS community in attendance and a keynote from the founder of ZFS, the European event is the go to event for anything OpenZFS, the truly open source implementation of the ZFS project. Nexenta’s sponsorship at the event reinforces its support for ZFS along with its growing developer and end user community.
Following the success of the OpenZFS Developer Summit conference last year, Nexenta is proud to sponsor the growing event in Europe. The goals of OpenZFS European User Conference are to collaborate with and connect with end users and ZFS engineers and to kick start the ZFS user community in Europe. Matt Ahrens and George Wilson, co-founders of the ZFS project will deliver a keynote at the event on the future of ZFS and the growth of the ecosystem. The full event will be live streamed to over 1,000 listeners globally. One of Nexenta’s ZFS experts will deliver a presentation on Nexenta’s Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage solutions.
OpenZFS is an outstanding storage platform that encompasses the functionality of traditional file systems, volume managers, and more, with consistent reliability, functionality and performance on illumos, FreeBSD, Linux and OS X. Nexenta uses ZFS for its Software-Defined Storage portfolio including its flagship product, NexentaStor and NexentaEdge. OpenZFS combines DRAM, flash, and hard disk drives to achieve the right balance of cost and performance for any given working set. This reduces the need for administrators to constantly monitor storage for I/O bottlenecks. Nexenta ends up with a system that performs far better than legacy storage systems, while having a much lower total cost of ownership (TCO), all by reducing both read and write latency with the use of flash in a ZFS hybrid storage pool.
Mark Jordan, VP of EMEA, Nexenta said: “The success of last year’s conference is a testament of how much interest in OpenZFS has grown across Europe. ZFS is at the core of everything we do at Nexenta. As a part of this community, we are always keen to learn as well as educate on the benefits of this unique file system. At Nexenta we value our partnerships and we are delighted to sponsor this successful event in Paris.”
Ryan Tyler, OpenZFS comments: “This is our second year hosting the OpenZFS European User Conference and it is growing each year. The success of the OpenZFS Developer Summit event in the US is spilling over into Europe and long may it continue. We are delighted to see such strong interest year on year.”
