Nexenta CEO is Featured Host at Silicon Valley Education Foundation’s Pioneers & Purpose Event

Nexenta Continues its Support for Public / Private Partnerships on Behalf of Education
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – October 1, 2014 – Nexenta, (@Nexenta) the global leader in Software-Defined Storage (#softwaredefinedstorage) (SDS), today announced that Tarkan Maner, Chairman and CEO of Nexenta and Board Member of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF), will emcee the 2014 STEM Innovation Awards at SVEF’s annual Pioneers & Purpose event on October 1, 2014 at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel.

“Education is vital to the economy and the future of Silicon Valley and beyond.  I’m passionate about the use of technology to improve education,” said Tarkan Maner, Chairman and CEO of Nexenta.  “Working with SVEF is just one way that Nexenta works to create bridges between private and public organizations on behalf of education. I’m honored to be part of the Pioneers & Purpose event once again, and look forward to spreading the good works of the STEM Innovation Award finalists.”

The Pioneers & Purpose event will recognize four leading organizations or individuals as recipients of the 2014 STEM Innovation Awards for their work inspiring students in the STEM fields – science, technology, engineering and math.  These four awards represent SVEF’s commitment to programs that elevate STEM education.

"For ten years, SVEF has been celebrating public education in Silicon Valley with our prestigious Pioneers & Purpose event. Tarkan has been a tireless advocate for education and has been a prominent supporter of our event over the years. We welcome Tarkan as host of the STEM Innovation Awards in what promises to be an inspirational and informative evening celebrating academic achievement," said Muhammed Chaudhry, President and CEO of SVEF.

In addition to the STEM Innovation Awards, the evening will feature Thomas L. Friedman, acclaimed journalist, New York Times columnist and author, and Mike Splinter, Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Applied Materials, Inc. Friedman will be honored as the 2014 Champion in Education for his outstanding contribution to education over the past decade. Splinter will be honored as the 2014 Pioneer Business Leader for his outstanding accomplishments in the worlds of business and philanthropy.

SVEF’s mission is to make Silicon Valley the leader in academically prepared students – and support of Pioneers & Purpose is a critical part in providing the necessary resources. For more information, visit http://pnp.svefoundation.org/pnp/.
