SANTA CLARA, Calif. – October 1, 2014 – Nexenta, (@Nexenta) the global leader in Software-Defined Storage (#softwaredefinedstorage) (SDS), today announced that Tarkan Maner, Chairman and CEO of Nexenta and Board Member of the Silicon Valley Education Foundation (SVEF), will emcee the 2014 STEM Innovation Awards at SVEF’s annual Pioneers & Purpose event on October 1, 2014 at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel.

The Pioneers & Purpose event will recognize four leading organizations or individuals as recipients of the 2014 STEM Innovation Awards for their work inspiring students in the STEM fields – science, technology, engineering and math. These four awards represent SVEF’s commitment to programs that elevate STEM education.

Friedman will be honored as the 2014 Champion in Education for his outstanding contribution to education over the past decade. Splinter will be honored as the 2014 Pioneer Business Leader for his outstanding accomplishments in the worlds of business and philanthropy.
