Nexenta’s Market Leading Open Software Defined Storage Solutions Continue to Collect Top Industry Awards

Santa Clara, Calif.– June 2, 2015 – Nexenta (@Nexenta), the global leader of Open Source-driven Software-Defined Storage (OpenSDS) solutions, today announced that CEO and Chairman, Tarkan Maner; customer, Northern Arizona University (NAU); and SDS block and file storage product, NexentaStor, have all been recognized as finalists in three separate categories of The 2015 American Business Awards, and will ultimately be named as a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Stevie® Award winners in the program.

The American Business Awards are considered the nation’s preeminent business awards program. All organizations operating in the U.S.A. are eligible to submit nominations – public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small.

The American Business Awards will be presented at two awards events: the ABA's traditional banquet on Monday, June 22 in Chicago and the new product and technology awards event on Friday, September 11 in San Francisco.

More than 3,300 nominations from organizations of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted this year for consideration in a wide range of categories, including Startup of the Year, Executive of the Year, Best New Product or Service of the Year, Marketing Campaign of the Year, Live Event of the Year, and Human Resources Department of the Year, among others.

Tarkan Maner, CEO and Chairman at Nexenta, was named a finalist in the “Executive of the Year” category for computer services and software with up to 500 employees. Maner has been accredited with driving Nexenta’s continued success and is recognized for his leadership as a global thought leader, investor and advisor in the Information Technology industry. NexentaStor has also been an important part of Nexenta’s success and was named a finalist in the “New Product or Service of the Year” category for cloud platforms, storage and backup solutions. The product has been recognized for delivering unified file and block storage services, allowing thousands of customers around the world to evolve their storage infrastructure by increasing performance and flexibility and dramatically reducing cost.

“I am honored to be named a finalist for the ‘Executive of the Year’ award and am thrilled our flagship OpenSDS platform, NexentaStor, has also been named a finalist by the American Business Awards,” said Tarkan Maner, CEO and Chairman at Nexenta. “We, of course, could not achieve this recognition without the help of our customers and partners. I would like to congratulate the IT team at Northern Arizona University on their recognition as a finalist and thank them for their ongoing support.”

Nexenta customer, Northern Arizona University, was named a finalist in the “Information Technology Team of the Year” category for companies with up to 2,500 employees. NAU’s IT team has been recognized for their implementation of Nexenta’s software-defined storage solutions to support the storage needs of more than 27,000 students and faculty across 36 different campuses.

"On behalf of the entire Student Computing and Networking team of NAU's Information Technology Services, it is a true pleasure to acknowledge being chosen as a finalist and to have had the support of Nexenta to achieve our goals and this honor," said Tobias Kreidl, Academic Computing Team Lead at Northern Arizona University. "We continue to build on this rewarding experience and reap its benefits as our NexentaStor environment grows."

Finalists were chosen by scores of business professionals nationwide during first-round judging in April and May.  Members of several specialized judging committees will determine Stevie Award placements from among the Finalists during final judging, to take place later this month.

“So many fascinating and inspiring stories of success were submitted to the ABAs this year,” said Stevie Awards president and founder Michael Gallagher.  “We congratulate all of our 2015 Finalists on their achievements.”
