Alex Aizman, CTO, Founder
Alex, along with Dmitry Yusupov, co-founded Nexenta Systems in 2005 and currently leads as CTO . He co-created NexentaOS and NexentaStor—the company’s flagship software-defined storage platform - currently in its 4th generation. He also leads the team responsible for creating NexentaConnect, a portfolio of solutions for VDI delivering storage acceleration via improved desktop density, performance and simplified management. The first product in this portfolio, NexentaConnect View Edition, is now in its 3rd generation. Alex holds numerous patents and patent applications at Nexenta Systems and prior to Nexenta served as engineering director at software startups Neterion and Silverback Systems (acquired by Brocade). He also co-invented Large Receive Offload (LRO) and co-created the iSCSI stack for the Linux kernel.
Ricardo Antuna, VP, Business and Corporate Development
Ricardo is responsible for Nexenta's global business and corporate development. He is focused on the company's strategy with leading cloud, virtualization and storage partners. Prior to Nexenta, Ricardo held business development, strategic alliances and product management roles with market leading infrastructure and systems management providers including: Acronis, Mirantis, Dell, Wyse (aquired by Dell), CA Technologies, Starbase (acquired by Borland) and Quest Software (acquired by Dell).
Craig Cagle, VP, GM Americas
Craig is a proven sales leader with deep experience in consultative selling, executive relationship building, sales operations, and management of high performance teams. He joined Nexenta as Director of Sales, and is currently the VP, GM Americas. Craig brings over 15 years of experience in technology sales and management. He joined Nexenta to leverage his cloud computing and sales experience to take Nexenta’s industry leading software-defined storage solutions to market, and increase the breadth, depth and quality of sales in the Americas. Craig joined Nexenta from Dell Inc. where he most recently led the Americas End User Computing organization, where he built and lead a team of sales managers, specialists, and engineers responsible for driving client virtualization, mobility, and security solutions.
Thomas Cornely, Chief Product Officer
Thomas is an experienced business leader with a strong storage pedigree and a proven ability to build high performance teams and bring technology products efficiently to market. He joined Nexenta in February 2014 and has over 15 years of experience building and running hardware and software product teams in infrastructure companies in the high-speed networking, Big Data and storage industries. At Nexenta, Thomas is responsible for all aspects of product management and product delivery, including portfolio management, technology strategy, product definition and lifecycle management. Prior to Nexenta, Thomas held senior management positions at Violin Memory where he focused on high performance, extremely low latency, all flash arrays and EMC Greenplum where he was instrumental in bringing to market the industry’s first unified analytics appliances combining Greenplum's high performance scale out database with Hadoop. Before that, Thomas ran product management for all Veritas storage management and high availability software solutions at Symantec.
Anthony Davis, VP, GM APAC
Anthony has had executive positions at the fastest growing enterprise software companies that have dominated the data center, such as Novell, Citrix and VMware. Anthony joined Nexenta as Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) Vice President and General Manager in 2014. He has strong enterprise sales, global alliances, channel and field engineering experience, and has been responsible for many high profile enterprise software acquisitions. Anthony joined Nexenta from VMware, where as Global Director of Alliances, he managed some of VMware’s most strategic partnerships. Educated in the UK, Anthony is a citizen of the UK, US and Australia, and resides in Australia.
Aditya Fotedar, CIO
Aditya is an innovative, business-led technology and operations executive focused on the effective application of differentiating technologies to fast growing businesses. He spends his time in pursuit of Technologies and process that drive simplicity, velocity and agility in a business. He carries a strong vision and perspectives in these areas for which he has been recognized by the industry. He joins Nexenta as CIO, providing leadership in multiple areas. He brings 18 years of diverse experience from past roles on both the business and technology sides. Prior to Nexenta, Aditya was responsible for Cloud Services, R&D operations and all aspects of IT at Dell Wyse.
Bill Fuller, VP, Engineering
Bill is an innovative and seasoned engineering leader with deep experience in storage solutions, including SAN, NAS, open source software, and storage interconnect related products and services. He brings over 30 years of storage industry and engineering experience to Nexenta, and is responsible for the ongoing development of NexentaStor, the company’s flagship software defined storage solution, currently in it’s 4th generation. NexentaStor 4 delivers enterprise class storage services for block and file, with the resilience and performance required for Cloud and Enterprise applications, plus comprehensive data management capabilities. Bill has strong technical management experience in investigation, design and product delivery in the areas of software, systems, storage and platforms – with a proven track record of timely product delivery and technical innovation. Bill was also instrumental in early development of RAID and Fibre Channel. He previously held key positions with storage companies like Quest Software, MonoSphere Systems, Nishan Systems, StorageWay Inc, Auspex Systems, and Tandem Computers.
Rick Hayes, VP, Customer Service
Rick is a seasoned executive in global pre-sales, customer service, support and professional services, with deep experience in data center strategy and transformation, including the use of open source storage technologies. He brings more than 20 years of industry experience to Nexenta. Previously, he was the principal consultant for the data center practice at GlassHouse Technologies where he developed and managed strategic IT projects focusing on data center consolidations and migrations for large enterprises in Energy, Financial Services, and Networking clients. Rick has most recently led global services and field operations at MaXXan and Storage Networks.
Mark Jordan, VP, GM EMEA
Mark has extensive knowledge of the IT Industry in EMEA with over 30 years experience having held senior management positions with HW, SW and services vendors addressing multiple business segments and channels. Prior to joining Nexenta, he was responsible for leading Dell's Cloud Client Computing business in EMEA and most recently its worldwide Cloud Client Computing sales team. Mark is a driven and passionate leader who is customer centric and has a strong track record in building high performance teams, revenue growth and go to market strategies for new product technologies.
Rick Martig, CFO
Rick is leading high-tech finance executive, with a proven track record of successful liquidity events. He joined Nexenta in October 2012 as CFO. Rick brings 26 years of experience to Nexenta as a senior leader in finance and accounting for both public and private companies. He oversaw the finance strategy and execution of the successful acquisition of BlueArc by Hitachi Data Systems, and of Genesis Microchip by ST Micro, and was instrumental in the organizational readiness of these IPO-class companies. Rick served as BlueArc’s CFO through the Hitchi Data Systems acquisition, and was responsible for Finance, Human Resources and IT. He also served as CFO of Genesis Microchip and was responsible for all accounting, finance, business planning, treasury, tax, compliance, investor relations, and risk management.
Jill Orhun, VP, Marketing & Strategy
Jill is a driven marketing and sales executive focused on the development of high impact go-to-market strategies and high performance sales enablement. She joined Nexenta as Chief of Staff to the CEO in late 2013, and currently is VP of Marketing and Strategy. Jill brings over 15 years of business development, sales and go-to-market strategy experience to her role at Nexenta. She has deep experience with Fortune 500 companies and C-level business and technologies executives, including taking new business and technology solutions to market. Prior to Nexenta, Jill held senior business development and client management roles at The Capital Markets Company (Capco, now a subsidiary of Fidelity Information Systems), and BearingPoint (formerly KPMG).
Brad Stone, GM, Greater China
Brad is an experienced veteran of both startups and name-brand companies. Brad has more than 20 years of experience architecting, designing, and implementing enterprise software solutions for small and large companies.
Phil Underwood, COO
Phil is a results-oriented, high performance operations, sales, and business development executive with a proven track record in venture turnarounds. He joined Nexenta as its COO in late 2013, and currently runs operations and sales. Phil brings many years of experience in the IT industry – from cloud computing, hardware, and enterprise software to open source storage - around improving operations, growing market share and strategic business development. He has a strong financial and operational management background, and was instrumental in the readiness of Wyse Technology for a liquidity event. Phil also has led several strategic programs around customer, partner and M&A transactions. Prior to Nexenta, Phil most recently held executive positions at Dell, Wyse Technology, IPLocks, and MargiSystems. Phil is also an investor in a number of companies and a board member of the Okizu Foundation, which serves children with cancer.
Mavis Yee, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel
Mavis is an experienced strategic attorney and Silicon Valley veteran, widely recognized for her work in global corporate, employment and commercial transactional law matters, venture financings and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. She joined Nexenta in June 2014 and brings over 20 years of legal and administrative expertise to Nexenta. Before joining Nexenta, Mavis was a partner with Nixon Peabody LLP, Cooley LLP and Heller Ehrman/Venture Law Group. During her tenure with these firms, Mavis represented many world class technology clients, including Wyse Technology, as their outside general counsel. At Nexenta, Mavis is responsible for managing legal, human resources and other administrative matters.
Dmitry Yusupov, Chief Systems Architect, Founder
Dmitry, co-founded Nexenta Systems with Alex Aizman in 2005 and is currently Chief Systems Architect. He co-created NexentaOS and NexentaStor—the company’s flagship software-defined storage platform - currently in its 4th generation. Dmitry and Alex are also the co-creators of the iSCSI stack accepted into the Linux kernel. This Open-iSCSI project forms the basis of most iSCSI solutions used today, and this experience building enterprise class storage with the Linux kernel encouraged them to create the hybrid open storage operating system, Nexenta Core Platform. Dmitry also leads the team responsible for developing NexentaEdge, a next generation scale out object, block and file solution with ZFS DNA. The first generation of this product, NexentaEdge 1.0, will be announced later in 2014. Prior to Nexenta, Dmitry served as software storage/networking lead engineer director at software startups Neterion and Silverback Systems (acquired by Brocade).
