Summary
The charter of our Sales Engineering team is to enable increased revenue by providing pre-sales architecture expertise to our internal and partner sales teams and to prospective customers. A successful member of our team must have experience and excellent technical, communication and organizational skills.
Principles Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead conversations to draw out and assess customer needs and requirements
- Architect and present solutions that meet the assessed customer needs
- Prepare and present demonstrations to potential customers
- Address technical questions that arise during the sales process
- Manage and assist in proof of concept evaluations
- Identify risks and opportunities related to new customers and partners
- Work closely with our partners and internal support, product and engineering teams
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering or a different degree plus relevant experience
- 3 – 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with NFS, SMB/CIFS, iSCSI, and FC protocols
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux and open-source software
- Evidence of storage architecture experience
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong work ethic, competitive drive and entrepreneurial spirit
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to solve business problems in collaboration with peers in sales, support, business development, engineering, etc.
- Ability to thrive in a high-paced environment amidst frequent change
Preferences
- Experience with Solaris 10 or Illumos, ZFS, and DTrace
- Extensive experience with Microsoft AD/LDAP/CIFS environments
- Extensive experience with backup, data protection, and DR software
- Experience with Hadoop, Cloud Stack, Open Stack, and/or other object storage and clustered file system solutions
- Hands-on experience with competitive storage products
- Experience in performance analysis of enterprise storage systems
- Extensive experience with Citrix, Hyper-V, and VMware
